Amalfi Coast

I usually think hard before leaving a negative review and tend to keep quiet, but I can't understand this place's rating. I want people to know about things other guests haven't mentioned. The main problem was the noise. The B&B is on an extremely busy street, and motorcycle traffic kept us awake until the early hours. Our window was stuck open, though my family members had the same trouble sleeping even with their windows shut. The front doorbell rang for visitors to be let in, and it was so loud in our room we thought a phone was ringing inside. One night it went off as late as 12:30am. The walls were paper thin too, so we heard people coming and going and doors slamming all night, then starting again very early. We got absolutely no sleep during this part of our trip. The room itself was tiny, with nowhere to unpack or keep our suitcases out of the way. The lighting was harsh, almost fluorescent, and felt sterile. The decor was tacky and mismatched, like a cheap hostel, and I've stayed in a couple of hostels nicer than this. The shower was about the size of a small phone booth, with a plastic retractable door. The curtain panels didn't match, and the rod fell down. There was only one plug beside the bed, so we had to take turns using it. The rooms were clean, although visibly worn, and smelled strongly of bleach or cleaner when cleaned. The staff were polite. I see those as basic expectations for a hotel or B&B, not reasons for five stars. It's close to the train station and one ferry terminal, which is convenient, but the noise wasn't worth it. Maybe it would suit someone who just needs a really cheap place and doesn't care about sleep, since the rooms were clean. My family had a terrible stay, and it cast a shadow over this part of our trip.
