Lloyd's Baia Hotel

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and both the food and service were excellent. The hotel is a short walk from town, where we felt safe, ate at restaurants, and chatted with locals. Our room was spacious, modern, and clean, with a balcony overlooking the port. We didn’t mind the view since there were other public balconies where we could sip wine and enjoy different views. This was our first trip to Italy and our first stay at this hotel. I’d read the reviews beforehand and had a knot in my stomach, but our time at Lloyd’s Baia Hotel turned out to be amazing. We’d definitely return.

I’d planned to leave a positive review because many of the staff were welcoming, but the hotel’s €300 charge after checkout changed my view. I stayed at Lloyd’s Baia Hotel for two nights. After I left, they blamed me for a leak and charged me for damages without showing evidence while I was there or giving me a chance to inspect anything. I think that’s unfair and unprofessional, and it looks like the hotel may be shifting maintenance problems onto guests. The bathroom was outdated and poorly maintained, and water getting into the room seems like a maintenance issue, not guest damage. I also hung a “Please service my room” sign on the door, but housekeeping never came. The port is right next to the hotel, and even from one of the rooms farthest away, I could hear constant loading and unloading, which made it uncomfortable and not relaxing. After leaving, I asked the hotel to provide proof, but they held me responsible instead. Travelers should document their room with photos or video, ask to see any alleged damage before accepting charges, and read any document before signing.

We were placed here for business, and I wish we hadn’t stayed. The rooms were badly outdated, with brown water damage on the ceilings and walls, scraped door frames, and wood rot. The beds and mattresses seemed to be from the 1960s, and there was a musty smell. The elevator setup was confusing too. Check-in felt unprofessional: clerks shouted each guest’s room number while handing over keys, and asked everyone to fill out a credit card form that was left visible on the desk. I had to ask the man checking me in not to announce my room number for security. Our rooms weren’t ready, so we changed and left our bags in an unlocked luggage room with no staff member present. It was open for anyone to go in and out of. There was no warning about the disco party every Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 5am. The music was so loud it sounded like it was in the room, with no way to mute it. Once I finally fell asleep, housekeeping carts rattled across the tile and glass water bottles clinked down the hall, waking me after about two hours. I can’t imagine staying here on vacation. Bring several sound machines and earplugs if you do. I’d absolutely never stay again.

The private beach, reached by elevator, was one of my favorite parts of the stay. It felt peaceful and secluded, and the hotel is also well placed for visiting Vietri sul Mare, Amalfi, and Ravello. Lloyd's Baia Hotel sits on a cliff above the sea, with breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. My room was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated, and had a balcony for lovely sunsets. The bed was very comfortable, and the waves at night made for restful sleep. Breakfast had plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, local cheeses, and more, served in a dining room with panoramic coastline views. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant several times. Each meal was delicious and nicely presented, and the service was outstanding, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. From arrival onward, the staff were welcoming, professional, and eager to help. It was a wonderful stay, with comfort, luxury, and warm Italian hospitality. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return.
