If you enjoy pigeon smells and cooing, dirty rooms, mosquito nets stained with guano, and a bathroom with no shampoo, this may be the place for you. They demand prepayment at a price 35% higher than other, better B&Bs nearby. After one night in this run-down place, I was afraid I’d catch something and slept in my clothes. I’d booked two nights but left after one, then asked for the second night to be refunded and was refused. Of course, there was no breakfast. I only dealt with them by phone. When I complained, I was rudely told to contact the owner, who lives in Rome, but they didn’t give me his number or any contact details. They also told me that if staying there was inconvenient, I should find somewhere else, so I did. I had paid a deposit, which they kept. These “scammers” are spoiling the name and beauty of the Amalfi Coast and its people.

The apartment was furnished with new furniture, had very comfortable beds, and air conditioning in every room. We stayed a few nights and had a great time. Its location is super convenient for the city center and for catching the ferry to the Amalfi Coast, practically right outside. The owners were readily available with information and assistance. Recommended, top!

The owner was kind and helpful, and the apartment was well maintained. It has a small kitchen and three bedrooms, including two triples, which were the rooms we used. It’s on the fifth floor just off the seafront. The balconies don’t shut properly, so you regularly hear the heavy traffic, especially on weekends. The elevator is tiny, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re claustrophobic. Parking is a real problem. There are two lots close by, but on Saturday evening we couldn’t find a space and drove around for over an hour before getting into the lot “under the house” at €2 an hour. A complete rip-off. In the morning, we found one of the two rooms flooded. The owner said it was from a spilled bottle of water, but we hadn’t seen or moved any bottle. Why was an open one left in the room?

I booked a house for five people for my sister’s wedding, but got the week wrong. I needed June 14-16, while the booking was for July 14-16. I paid a €50 deposit, and the receipt showed June 14-16, the dates I needed. The owner never told me there was a mistake. He had said I wouldn’t owe anything if I canceled 15 days ahead. When we arrived in Salerno and called to say we were on our way, I was shocked to hear the house wasn’t available. I quickly found somewhere else and paid for it. Now he says I owe half the price, €250, because of the mistake, even though I canceled a month in advance. I think the deposit should be returned, as he said it would be. I’d advise paying only a small deposit, because you may lose it even if this man says otherwise. He also threatened to report me to the authorities. I hope he doesn’t deceive anyone else.
