L'Incanto House

Salerno's central location was handy, but the commercial street outside was noisy even at night, and the historic building's interior was rather run-down. We were three friends staying for three nights in July in the two rooms at Incanto House. At first the apartment looked attractive, tidy, and nicely furnished. Then we tried the shower and kitchen kettle. The shower maintenance was disappointing. The online amenities and conditions didn't mention that air conditioning was limited to six hours a day, controlled remotely by host S. We only learned this after arriving to find it switched off. More hours would cost €25 per room per day to use the split-unit remotes. We would not have booked if we had known those terms. At 10:00 PM we asked for the units to be turned on for the next six hours. After dinner, about two hours later, the rooms were still hot. The units were running at very low power, not enough to cool two rooms of around 20 square meters. We reported what seemed like a fault and suggested the host come check it. She refused to inspect the property, including on later days, called us liars, and told us not to contact her again. We had already paid for the whole stay in advance. We felt the real issue was the host, who was deliberately keeping the units at minimum power to save electricity. The online photos of the Ombrina room show a two-door wooden wardrobe, but there wasn't one there, just a wall-mounted rod with a few hangers. Breakfast was packaged snacks that may have been expired, a few coffee pods, and leftover uneaten food in the fridge from previous guests. The host was rude and presumptuous. The apartment is centrally located and has been renovated with care, with comfortable space. The showers were poorly maintained, though, and the host controls the air conditioning remotely. It's free for six hours, then you have to pay for more use. During our stay it was extremely hot, and no solution was found. Breakfast was a basket of packaged snacks without a brand or expiry date, unbranded fruit juice, coffee pods, and milk. The host was rude. If you want privacy, darkness, and quiet at night, this may not suit you: the rooms face a noisy alley, with the neighboring building's windows only a few meters away.

We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely come back. The property was stunning and exceptionally clean, and the people were friendly. Even with the nightlife nearby, the rooms were well soundproofed. The location was great too.
