The room was roomy and clean, with high ceilings, and the bathroom had everything I needed. I also liked the password entry, so I didn’t have to carry a key. The cafe downstairs served excellent coffee and bread for breakfast. This was the most satisfying place I stayed during my trip to Italy, thanks in part to its convenient location close to both the train station and ferry terminal. I’d definitely stay here again if I return.

The room at City Room 74 was comfortable and welcoming, the bathroom was fantastic, and everything was exceptionally clean. Check-in was organized well, with the 3:00 PM start being pretty standard for this kind of quasi-hotel accommodation. The 10:00 AM checkout, though, felt too early and there was no flexibility. There’s also nowhere to leave your bags if you’re departing later in the day, which I really missed. Breakfast is arranged through the café downstairs, but the voucher doesn’t make the hours or what’s included clear. It left me unsure whether coffee and a pastry were the full entitlement, or whether I’d received less than I should have. I was also uneasy about having to leave the tourist tax in cash in the room, since there’s no way to know it will reach the right recipient. A secure, traceable option like PayPal would make more sense. It’s a very pleasant place to sleep and shower, with excellent rooms and cleanliness, but the service and organization need work to match.

The location is excellent, on a street packed with restaurants and cafes, and overall I think it’s worth it. The room was modern, spacious, and well looked after, with a wonderful bed. The bathroom and shower were roomy and comfortable. They even provided good toothbrushes, soap and shampoo, plus a mini bottle of sparkling wine and water, a lovely welcome after traveling. It’s in a commercial building, as many hostels and hotels in Salerno are, so there’s no direct contact with other people. We got all the instructions by message and had no trouble with that. One thing did bother me at night: the heater kept making a noise like a motor switching on and off. There’s also a motion sensor that turns on a little blue light whenever you move, which could be disruptive if you’re a light sleeper.

Great value for the price, and I’d absolutely recommend it. The room was large and comfortable, very clean, and had complimentary products; the bathroom was also spacious. The location is super convenient, right on the main street and just two minutes from the train station. Communication with the very kind owner was excellent. You can get a breakfast voucher for the bar downstairs, where the brioches are delicious.
