Le Mulieres Bed and Breakfast

Our room looked modern, very clean, and well cared for, as if it had just been renovated. The host gave us a warm welcome and was really friendly. It's a great hotel in Salerno's lovely Old Town.

Nice rooms and views, and the place is very well positioned. Just be aware the area gets really noisy at night.

The B&B Anna moved us to, B&B Casa Castagna, turned out to be excellent. Its owner was lovely, and I highly recommend it. But the way Anna handled the move was terrible. Ten minutes before we arrived, she switched us to another B&B owned by a friend, at the same price, without explaining why. Once we got to Salerno, she didn't send the location or help us find the property. She'd also recommended a restaurant for New Year's Eve dinner and assured us she'd send its location, but then disappeared without a word. It seemed she thought she already had her earnings. Terrible treatment of guests.

One night was all it took for us to leave and never come back. As soon as we entered the apartment, there was an unpleasant smell of must and tobacco. The photos suggest meticulous cleanliness, but that wasn't what we found. On the evening we arrived, we told the owner the hair dryer wasn't working and asked if she could arrange a replacement the next morning because we needed to shower. She said she'd tell the cleaning lady, but nobody came. When we called, the owner made all sorts of excuses and said she wasn't obliged to provide a hairdryer because it was an extra the property offered. She also claimed she couldn't get one from the other two rooms because they were occupied. They were actually free, and nobody else had been in the property besides us. Of the three breakfast tables, only ours had a basket, and we knocked several times at the other rooms without an answer. We paid €50 plus €3 tourist tax for two people, but got no receipt. Taxes were brought up when it was time to pay, yet it seemed like tax evasion.
