Evenings in summer were cool in the rooms, despite there being no air conditioning. A fan would still have been nice. The owner is very kind and makes a good Neapolitan coffee ;) It’s a little paradise, a beautiful home surrounded by greenery, sunny and looking out toward the distant sea. Time seems to slow down here, so you can enjoy the simple stuff, like a beer at sunset, reading in the evening or doing yoga at sunrise. And don’t forget to take some lovely photos of your sweetheart.

The drive up is a bit tricky, but the view makes it worth it. This quiet, cozy place sits on a hill above the city, with a lovely terrace, parking and a great view. The room was spacious, spotless and had a comfortable bed. Before we arrived, the host got in touch. We managed in a mix of Italian and English, and understood each other just fine. At my request, she suggested Da Leone nearby. The food and service were great: we had porcini pasta and ribs, and both were very good. Breakfast was a classic Italian spread with toast, fresh croissants, tea, coffee, jam, Nutella, butter and yogurt. The host was also kind enough to give us cold water for the road. A really lovely stay.

The view of Salerno was lovely, but getting there was difficult and you really need a car. It’s a simple place. The room was comfortable, though basic, and the decor wasn’t to our taste. There was no air conditioning.

We only spent one night here, but I can see why someone would stay longer to explore the coast. The room was clean and tidy, and the hilltop setting had beautiful sea views and a mild climate. An extraordinary couple welcomed us, explained what to see and told us what we needed to know about the area. They made us feel like family. Their warmth also brought us into conversation with the other guests, which made the stay even nicer.
