Saint Joseph Resort

We left the hotel almost as soon as we arrived, but they still refused to refund us. There was no proper apology, no one took responsibility, and we felt completely disrespected. About an hour and a half after check-in, my partner and I were in bed working on our laptops when someone unlocked the door and walked right in. No warning, no waiting for a reply, and no notice beforehand. We were shocked. The man didn't speak English and left without explaining what was happening. At reception, they casually called it a mistake and said someone had been coming to check the air conditioning. This was a serious invasion of our privacy, not a minor mix-up. We could have been sleeping, undressed, or in the shower. Staff entering a guest's room without permission or notice is unacceptable. We left because of this major safety and privacy concern, and strongly advise others to stay away.

The Saint Joseph Resort has a lot going for it for a budget stay in Salerno: it's by the beach in a quiet area, near restaurants, and a short walk from the train station. There's a restaurant, bar, pool, sun terrace with loungers, and rooms with A/C. Beds are comfortable, linens clean, and bathrooms small but looked after. The breakfast buffet has pastries, eggs, bacon, and sausage, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Some rooms are dated, it's a bit far from the city center, and the small pool can get crowded. Still, the rooms are simple and comfortable, and the hotel is a convenient base for exploring the area.

The view was nice, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was okay. The walls are thin, though, and when they hold events the bass can get really loud. We heard it until 1 a.m. Even so, it's still one of the better places to stay around here compared with the other options.

My husband and I work on a yacht and have stayed at the hotel, which is great, but dinner at the restaurant was a mess. We waited at least 53 minutes and then got the wrong order, even though we ordered pasta. We had to ask the waiters for things eight times, including asking one waiter four times for our drinks. He didn't seem to care and was drying dishes instead of giving us proper service. There were only two people on duty, but that's no excuse for this. We were paying for service that wasn't up to standard. I'd give it 0000.000 stars.
