Petramare Charming House

The owner was very nice and made check-in and communication easy. We enjoyed our day and night at Petramare: it was spotless and had just the right atmosphere for a getaway. The private hot tub and sauna were exactly what we wanted, and breakfast at the café across the street was lovely. I don't think you'll find a better place to stay in Salerno.

Marianna made us feel welcome right away. She was polite, kind, easy to reach on WhatsApp, and gave us great restaurant tips. Both rooms were immaculate and beautifully kept, and the historic center location made it easy to see Salerno on foot. We stayed in two: the Abbondanza Suite was spacious and elegant, with a large practical bathroom, plus a separate wellness area with a sauna, hot tub, and two loungers. It felt like a private retreat. The romantic Venus room had a hot tub right in front of the bed and a lovely, cozy feel. A beautiful property and a stay we'd gladly repeat. Highly recommended ❤️

The Abbondanza suite looks just like the pictures, maybe even better, and it's a beautiful room. But for me, the jacuzzi is what makes the €170-200 nightly price worthwhile, and ours was a letdown. At check-in the water was 35.5°C. I asked how to heat it, and the owner said it rises half a degree every 10-15 minutes. We went out, then came back at 9:30 pm and started heating it from 31.5°C, hoping for a private midnight spa. After waiting until 2 am, the display still said 34.5°C, only 3 degrees in almost five hours. Turning on the sauna made it lose another hard-earned half degree, so we turned the sauna off and never got to use the spa. The surprise was ruined, it was embarrassing, and the money felt wasted. I told the owner. He suggested we'd pressed random buttons and set a low temperature, though I'd never seen the display below 31.5°C and had only pressed the button to raise it. Even if that explanation were true, the heating rate was still just 3 degrees in 4.5 hours, about 45 minutes for half a degree, four times slower than he'd said. We had booked a transfer with him for the next morning, and he was precise, punctual, and helpful when we moved our departure by 30 minutes. But he didn't apologize, and the transfer, paid for on the spot, wasn't reduced to a quarter of its price. When the cleaning lady arrived, she seemed angry with us, as if we'd damaged the tub or made up the complaint. She also asked us to leave the €3 tourist tax. The attitude felt poor. I work in a hotel, and when something like this happens, you should at least say you'll investigate or try to fix it, rather than blame the guest. I had planned not to review the place and didn't raise it during the transfer because I expected the owner to say something when we paid the balance. Nothing. So here's my feedback.
