The Lighthouse

The location is great, and the owner was kind and helpful. Getting there means going down a staircase, which could be a lot for someone who isn't young, though there were escalators for the way back up. The place itself needs a refresh, and the social media photos should be updated. It isn't what it used to be.

It was really peaceful, a good place to unwind, and the view was incredible. The apartment is lovely and comfortable, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of them a full bathroom. It's near the city center, and parking is free, though finding a space takes patience. The kitchen was okay, but I'd have liked a microwave and toaster.

The welcome was excellent, breakfast was excellent too, and the price was very good. The rooms were fairly clean, though not spotless. There was plenty of space, but the location wasn't as good, and the old building showed its age. The bed was uncomfortable, the plumbing and electrical systems were dated, and the power went out. Water drained slowly from the shower tray, so I ended up standing in it, which felt unhygienic. The TV was small, its brackets were stiff, and the bedroom view was uncomfortable.

Giampiero was so kind to my family and me, and shared some great tips about the city. The apartment has everything a traveler needs and is decorated really nicely, with a pleasant feel. It's just a few meters from the center of Salerno. I hope we can come back someday!
