Villa Esmeralda

The drive up the hill takes a bit, but the quiet and sea view make it worthwhile. Rooms were clean. Franco is a lively, lovely host, and the lady helping at breakfast was so kind and sweet. Breakfast was very good, with fresh cakes, good coffee, eggs, and delicious tomatoes from the garden.

The hostess was friendly, and the hotel was wonderful. The bed was comfortable, with a fluffy comforter. We enjoyed delicious eggs and coffee at breakfast, along with fresh tomatoes and basil grown at the hotel. There’s a gorgeous view of Salerno from the backyard.

The view was lovely, parking was good, and the value was good, but I wouldn't recommend this place. The room had an old style and needs renovation. The bathroom tap leaked, and the beds were comfortable. The mosquito nets didn't work, so opening the windows to enjoy the view wasn't really possible. The pool was extremely cold at the end of May and pretty much unusable. The narrow, dangerous drive up to the villa was another issue. I can't comment on breakfast, since it starts at 7 or 8 and that was too late for us. There weren't enough cups at the coffee corner for everyone staying in the house. In the coffee room there was a lonely parrot that seemed to need attention and care. The bottom of its cage was very dirty and covered in droppings.
