Casina Metrano-Castello Monaci

We booked four nights across Le Scuderie and Casina Metrano, and we'd absolutely come back for another holiday. The staff at Le Scuderie made us feel so welcome and took good care of us. Debora was very helpful by email before we booked, answering all our questions. When we arrived, Pino met us in person and helped with our many suitcases. He and Debora were both very accommodating, and even drove us between the villa and the castle themselves, which was very kind. Le Scuderie's rooms were gorgeous, exceptionally clean, and well looked after. Casina Metrano was equally lovely, with breathtaking views and gardens. The only issue there was splinters on the decking around the pool. Getting to the castle was quite a long journey for our older guests, so we'd suggest hiring a car for the trips back and forth. Bikes are provided, but they aren't suitable for all ages. Breakfast at Le Scuderie was delicious and had a good range. Claudio and Vincenzo gave excellent service, and we're grateful to them both. We highly recommend Le Scuderie and Casina Metrano for a stay or for anyone marrying at Castello Monaci.

You'll need a car or motorbike here. Shops and towns are far away, and the bicycles offered by the cottage are old and a bit battered. Still, the grounds are lovely, with a well-kept garden among the vineyards, a BBQ, veranda, and a small but delightful private pool. The villa is part of the renowned Castello Monaci, an ancient fiefdom of Salice Salentino, set out on the vineyard plain. We came with several families, and the layout worked well: five bedrooms with private bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, an entrance area with sofas and a large round glass table that seats 15, plus a beautiful upstairs terrace with veranda. The interiors have recently been renovated, and this is the first review since that work. The finishes show plenty of hosting experience. It has pretty much everything, from a coffee machine to beach towels, and if something is missing the friendly staff will sort it out quickly. We had a wonderful time relaxing, barbecuing, and trying local wines from the surrounding vineyards. The local wines are a must, especially with grilled fish from the harbor. Thanks to all the staff for their attention to detail and courtesy. We'll be back.

The rooms are tastefully furnished, and there's a lovely spot to relax by the pool. Vineyards and olive trees surround the property, and its internal garden is wonderful, with lots of different plant species.

The house was excellent for amenities and facilities, and it was thoroughly cleaned, inside and out. Mr. Pino was attentive, punctual, and available, helping make the stay easy for us and our guests. He even took care of yogurt for people with intolerances. He really made us feel at home. Many thanks, Mr. Pino.
