Masseria Baroni di Montesardo

The welcome from the staff was warm and attentive, and the food was lovely, both in flavor and presentation. We felt looked after from the moment we arrived. Our suite was full of carefully considered details, including the beautiful Lecce stonework. It came with its own outdoor pool, as well as an indoor one under a glass ceiling, so we could enjoy the sky and sunshine by day and the lovely LED lighting at night. The hydromassage made it even more relaxing. The private sauna was another highlight and made the stay feel like a proper wellness break. Masseria Barone brings together Salento character and a real sense of comfort. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to come back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The biggest letdown was dinner. Most dishes were bland and only a few felt up to standard, with little local food apart from the Salento evening. In a region known for its cuisine, we’d hoped for much better. Service was confusing and slow, with long waits, forgotten requests, and courses mixed up between tables. Also, if the side entrance is the only way in for strollers and wheelchairs, the space beside it should be kept clear so guests don’t have to disturb diners. There were good things during our family’s week here, from August 24th to 31st. The grounds are lovely and well kept, especially the greenery, which makes for a relaxing feel. It’s a handy base for visiting beautiful parts of Salento, and the shuttle to the beach was convenient. The rooms and shared spaces are bright, cleanliness was consistently good, and the evening activities for little ones were fun. All in all, a somewhat positive stay.

We came back for a second year and were just as happy. The place is peaceful, beautiful, new, and very carefully maintained. Our room was clean and nicely furnished, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Sara at reception was especially kind and sensitive with our son. She always found a way to make him smile and made us feel at home. Sasha also deserves a special thank you for taking us to the beach every day with such generosity and warmth. The food was excellent, with fresh ingredients, authentic local flavors, and dishes prepared with care.

We had a really enjoyable week and would gladly recommend the Masseria. The terrace was a lovely spot for dinner, and the generous breakfast was great. The pool was perfect for a cool dip, with comfortable loungers, while the whirlpool had an amazing view. The rooms looked out over the grounds, were cleaned consistently well, and the whole spacious property was beautifully kept. It’s also very quiet here.
