Il Poggio Agriturismo & Resort

The location is beautiful, but that's just Italy, and they don't get credit for that. Please protect your wallet and health, and do not stay here. We booked what was supposed to be their best room, the 'suite,' but found outdated equipment, bugs, and broken interior. At check-in we were hit with a fee of almost 600 just for cleaning and breakfast. The staff were unhelpful and pushy, and we felt they take advantage of people. The building's condition makes it seem possible they desperately need the money. It also seemed they couldn't afford to keep anything plugged in to save on the bill. We can't be helped at this point, but I wanted to warn other travelers.

After long days exploring the Tuscan countryside, towns, and sites, we looked forward to dinner every night. Chef Massimo is unbelievably talented, creating wonderful four-course meals night after night. Two of our group of four needed vegetarian menus, and he happily made food that was amazing. Lorena and Alessandra gave us warm, friendly service, and we felt treated like royalty. The grounds and residences were charming and beautifully kept, too. We can't say enough about Il Poggio, and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a true Tuscan experience, with sweeping countryside views, lovingly prepared meals, and warm Italian hospitality.

The room was huge and opened onto a balcony with a fantastic view. Everyone was friendly and kind. The restaurant was open only three times, but if you wanted anything, they would run off and make it for you. We loved this place and can't say enough good things. We'll be back.

The espresso is great, and the wine is fantastic. Set at the top of a hill, as the name suggests, it's a wonderful Tuscany experience. Be sure to check out the nearby walled castle towns of San Casciano Bagni, Centona, and Radicofani. Taste everything and make new friends!
