B&B La Fonte del Machiavelli

It’s a bit remote, about a 25-minute drive to Florence, but the setting is stunning, and there are some very nice restaurants within a five-minute drive. Simone’s B&B was a wonderful stay. The rooms had everything we needed and were cleaned every morning, the breakfast service was great, and the terrace view is unmatched. The pool is great for lounging or taking a dip after a day touring the city.

Simone was a gracious, helpful host, and this quiet Tuscan countryside hotel is a lovely place for families or groups of friends wanting to enjoy rural Tuscany. The rooms were clean and adequate, though on the small side. Breakfast was good, with tasty ham and sausages, croissants and good coffee. About 500 meters away, the Saracen is a superb restaurant with great bistecca and pasta.

We stayed three nights at Fonte del Machiavelli for a wedding at Villa Mangiacane, and it was a once in a lifetime experience. Simone was the most gracious host we’ve had, and you can tell he takes pride in looking after guests. He met us in the driveway that evening, checked us in and walked us to our room. When we said we were hungry, he drove us to a local place for food, then came back to collect us. I also needed an early round-trip cab to the Firenze Airport to retrieve my lost luggage, and Simone arranged it all. Breakfast on the terrace, served by Simone, was always great, and we loved relaxing by the pool. The B&B is off the beaten path, so getting around without a car or transport would be difficult. My husband and I travel often, and we can only say wonderful things about this B&B. Stay here if you want to experience real Tuscany. Thanks so much, Simone!

This is a perfect base for exploring wine country. The room was clean and comfortable, with hot showers and a super comfy bed. There’s a swimming pool to use, and breakfast was plentiful with good coffee. Wish I could’ve stayed longer!
