Il Riposo

A roomy, cosy, and really distinctive pension out in the countryside, with very friendly service.

The outdoor area is lovely and would be great to use in summer. Breakfast was excellent, with everything we needed, and they were happy to handle different special requests. You can also have dinner there if you like, since the kitchen is well stocked. The hostess, who lives nearby, is friendly and helpful, so she’s available if anything comes up. The farmhouse is beautiful and tucked away in the Langhe hills, with two floors and plenty of space. Downstairs, the kitchen and living room were well equipped and looked after. Upstairs were two spacious, lovely bedrooms. It’s quiet because of the secluded setting, though you can hear the neighbors since there’s no soundproofing. There’s underfloor heating, but no TV. The WiFi wasn’t very good, so we had to use our own internet. With very small children, carrying a stroller up the narrow stairs could be awkward, but we managed fine with our little girl. I’d return to this place if I went back to the Langhe hills. Since you need to drive around anyway, staying in Alba wouldn’t make sense. Here it’s peaceful, tidy, clean, and you’re well looked after, at a much lower price. For the price and quality, it’s the best B&B I’ve stayed in. The management has done a great job. I’d just suggest adjusting the thermostat so the heating can be switched on briefly, even at night.

The breakfasts were generous, with both sweet and savory choices, and Irene was always smiling, kind, and helpful. Il Riposo is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind property. Elena and Giuseppe, the two cyclists.

The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. We spent three days in this magical, quiet place, a converted brick building, and it had everything we needed. Highly recommended!
