Giovanni did his best to make us comfortable, and the room itself was modern and nice, with a great shower and a good location. The breakfast was the letdown. From earlier reviews, we expected something substantial and homemade, but even though we paid for breakfast, all we received was a voucher worth up to €2.50 each at nearby cafés. That wasn’t what we thought we were booking. We also had no kettle or way to make tea, though there seemed to be room for one, and the terrace mentioned in the room description wasn’t available. I wish the breakfast arrangement had been explained more clearly beforehand.

Giovanni’s Rseidenza Cappelli deserves more than five stars. I’m usually wary when a place has so many top ratings, but we had a wonderful stay. The location made it easy to explore Abruzzo, from modern shops in L'Aquila to the quiet charm of San Demitrio D'Vestini, with its shops, markets, restaurants, and walkable streets. Lago di Sinizzo is an easy walk, and cyclists have endless roads to explore. We spent time in Gran Sasso National Park and visited Rocco Caliscio. The drives were scenic and easy, with lots of wildlife, and the surrounding roads were great. Parking was easy and felt safe. Then our car broke down over a holiday weekend, when the mechanics and tire shops were closed. Within minutes Giovanni had called a friend, and they were both with me on the highway. He coordinated the repair while making sure my wife and kids were comfortable. His English is great, and his kindness is hard to match. We’ll stay with him again.

Restaurants and bars are within walking distance, and there’s the sweetest dog, Luna! Giovanni and Catia are a lovely couple. From the moment we arrived, it felt like being with friends, and the service was perfect. Tante Grazie for a great stay. I’d recommend this place anytime!
