Agriturismo Il Rifugio

The warm, family-friendly setting made our lunch at this family-run farmhouse especially lovely. We all enjoyed the traditional Salento food, from the excellent first courses to the roast sausage and turcenieddri. The woman running everything was patient and well organized, and the staff were great too. Thanks, Maria and Massimo, for inviting us. You chose just the kind of place we like. Highly recommended.

The homemade traditional food and the restaurant's zero-waste approach really reflect the land. We loved the homemade pasta, and the owner and staff were wonderful. The place feels welcoming, with two fireplaces that make it feel like home, and it's surrounded by nature with a breathtaking view. A little paradise we'd gladly return to with family or friends.

The staff were so courteous, and the service was excellent. We had a really pleasant lunch at this agriturismo, with typical Salento dishes made from top-quality ingredients. I was struck by how simple the business felt while still being so professional. Congratulations!

The quiet countryside setting is a real plus if you enjoy that kind of stay and want to relax. It also works well for seeing both coasts: Otranto is half an hour away, Lecce 14 minutes, and the Maldives of Salento about an hour. The private pool was very welcome too. The rooms are large, spotless and recently renovated, with exposed brick, air conditioning, a terrace, a private bathroom and shower, and lovely views over the countryside and nearby villages. They are cleaned each morning when guests are out. If you're in, they leave you alone and come back the next day. Sheets and towels are changed midway through the stay, or more often for an extra charge. Breakfast isn't huge, but there are always fresh eggs from their own chickens, fresh fruit, and what you need to get going. We also had dinner at the agriturismo, and everything was delicious, fresh, homemade and handmade. The owners are incredibly kind, helpful and courteous. It's a family-run place that feels just as described, and they make you feel at home. This isn't a luxury property, but it's lovely and has everything you need, so the price is excellent. I'd likely stay here again if I return to Salento. I'm curious to see how the trees they just planted grow. 😉
