Villa Grancassa

Mario is a gem, and the staff are so warm. I’m deeply grateful to the Tanzilli family, who hosted us in one of the most incredible places I’ve stayed. The food was delicious, too. The hotel is right in the heart of San Donato, and staying in this historic wonder felt like stepping into a time capsule. I can’t wait to come back for festa!

We loved being right in the village center, within walking distance of all the landmarks we wanted to see. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, with a lovely patio, and our room was clean and nice. The food was the highlight of our trip to Italy. We ate at the restaurant, where I had the best salad I’ve ever tasted, burrata and quinoa. My pasta was amazing, and my husband’s seafood was delicious too. Breakfast was generous, with lovely pastries and other things, and we enjoyed the cappuccino. We spent several nights at Villa Grancassa, and the hosts were so attentive and kind, helping with nearby activities, car services, and anything else we needed. The service and location were excellent, as were the rooms, hotel, and food. We highly recommend it and hope to return. Thank you to our hosts for the wonderful hospitality!

My daughter’s wedding at San Donato cathedral, with the reception and guest accommodation at Villa Grancassa Relais Hotel & Ristorante, was a perfect celebration. Family and friends came from across America and Europe, along with locals from the village. The outdoor patio was lovely for appetizers and drinks before lunch. Chef Fabrizio prepared and presented a delicious multi-course meal, while waiters Fabrizio and Michele kept the plates moving and wine glasses filled. Massimo and Loredana deserve kudos for their work as kitchen managers. After dinner, everyone went back to the patio for desserts and dancing. The Grancassa family surprised us with two white doves for the bride and groom to release as Andrea Bocelli sang in the background. It was a magical moment on a very special day. Planning a wedding abroad could have been stressful, but the owners, Francesco and Roberta, their sons Marco and Mario, and the Villa Grancassa staff made everything easier. Marco acted as our on-site wedding planner and connected my daughter with a florist, DJ, photographer, and videographer. The staff even printed the church program. Every detail was handled calmly and kindly. When my daughter mentioned needing music for the church, we found out a Grancassa staff member performed. We had no idea she was so talented. Her beautiful voice filled the church and the reception, accompanied by a violinist and pianist. I’d highly recommend Villa Grancassa Relais Hotel and Ristorante to couples looking for a beautiful, unique venue where the wedding runs smoothly. It offers a wonderful setting at a reasonable cost in one of Italy’s most beautiful towns!

You can’t beat the service or the location. I can’t wait to come back!
