Hotel Maga Circe

It’s hard to find a family-owned place like this these days. My favorite hotel in the area.

The hotel feels like a step back into the ’90s, and the beds aren’t the softest, but the prices reflect that. With the pool and waterfront setting, it’s a real bargain. This little hidden gem is slightly dated, yet has plenty going for it, tucked between the water and Mount Circeo without feeling crowded or overly touristy. Our room faced the water and had a huge balcony, and falling asleep to the waves was lovely. The pool is massive and very well kept. One receptionist was clearly made for hospitality, kind, professional, polite, multilingual, and so helpful. You can walk to the harbor, with lots of restaurants and the best little ice cream shop. A big yes from me!

It’s about 2 km to the shops or a pharmacy, so they’re a little out of the way. That distance did make for a peaceful stay, with only the waves in the background.

The staff’s kindness made my stay at Maga Circe truly delightful. From reception and the breakfast team to the night porters and mixologists, everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel is also close to restaurants and the Centro Storico. San Felice Circeo is charming, though with limited public buses, tourists should plan weekday arrivals and departures. The saltwater pool overlooking the sea was a highlight, with a stunning view and peaceful atmosphere. Our rooms were adequate, clean, and comfortable. A few things could be clearer for guests from outside Italy: a price list for minibar items, especially water, and an explanation of the taxes included in the stay would help avoid checkout surprises. It would also be useful to have an iron and ironing board in the rooms, or clear prices for ironing services, since 3 euros per item seems excessive.
