Hotel Punta Rossa

Being near the town's restaurants and shops is handy if you feel like going out, though the meals here are wonderful too. Breakfast and dinner were both great, and you can eat at different spots, each with its own breathtaking view. The hotel sits quietly on the mountainside, with gorgeous scenery, comfortable beds, simple, modest rooms, and spacious bathrooms. The staff really go above and beyond. My family has returned for generations, and I was last here at 17, 17 years ago. It looks more beautiful than ever, and the upkeep has been lovely. It's a little piece of antiquity where you can unwind to the sounds and smells of the water, and take plenty of beautiful photos. This is the kind of place that stays with you.

Our room often felt warm, which was really my only complaint, and the staff were wonderful. The hotel was quiet while we were there in late September, and it felt intimate and private. It's tucked into the mountainside, with lovely gardens, walkways, rooms and balconies. The whole place is beautifully done.

The beach and pool staff really understood service and treated everyone well. Huge thanks to those guys, you are great ******* ! And thanks to the room ladies***** ! We spent five days here, and after the first three I would have given it five stars. That room was bright and clean, with what looked like a recently renovated bathroom and a lovely stone-floor shower. For the final two days we moved to an older room. The tiles were older, but that seemed fine for the house's style. The problem was the "Gully Flies" in both the bathroom and bedroom. We call them toilet flies too, and in italiano "mosca dell´aborto". You can google them, but the name says everything. We killed 15-20 and reported it to reception at 2 pm. After the beach, nothing had improved, so we reported it again in the evening after killing more. Before bed we killed them all again and shut every door, hoping for a night without gullies. The first action by the cleaning staff came the next day at 3 pm, 24 hours later, but it didn't fix the issue. We found the shower sink and air conditioning were where the flies were coming from. The woman at reception, the oldest one there, took our problem seriously and wanted to help. She called someone else to treat the room. Things got better, but the flies were back in the morning. No one can be blamed for the flies appearing. Still, in a four-star hotel, I expected staff to take an interest and try to sort out the problem straight away. We paid the full price, with no reduction, no "Sorry for the inconvinience," and not even an invitation for coffee. It isn't about money. It's about basic manners and being a good host. We clearly aren't as rich as the usual guests, but this was our only holiday this year, and we shouldn't have had to deal with that kind of hygiene issue. It felt like some guests were treated with more respect than others. We also had a nice spot, though.

We loved the buffet lunch at the beach and the excellent dinner restaurant. Our room was lovely, with a fantastic view, and the service was outstanding. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and Alessandro is an incredible host. As we do every year, we spent a few days in this little corner of paradise. Can't wait to return next year.
