It's such a shame, because this is a beautiful property in a wonderful historic building right in the city center. The reception is at the hotel just ahead, and the staff there are kind and helpful. But the guesthouse had a lot of problems. The room we were given was huge and beautiful, with a large bathroom, but it had no towels. The note said they only provide a shower, though there's also a sink and bidet, so you'd logically expect towels for those, too. A platform would have helped as well. The building is historic, but there's no air conditioning in the attic room, even though the historic hotel next door has it. There is air conditioning at the entrance to the guest room, but it's useless. Opening the windows wasn't much better, as there were no screens and gnats and mosquitoes got in everywhere. The fans were loud, and the skylight let in the dawn light without dimming it. I also dropped something and moved the nightstand, only to find all sorts of stuff underneath. How long have they been cleaning by walking around things? Going in, you're met by a room full of exercise equipment that looks out of place, as if it had first been packed together and then moved over to the other side. The lovely furniture in the entrance hall was dusty. Upstairs on the first floor, there were two unused museum rooms. Such a wonderful place, but it's a shame about all this.

The location deserves to be seen and experienced, and the staff were both competent and friendly. It was an excellent stay and good value for money.

We had a fantastic stay in the heart of San Gemini. The service was impeccable and the prices reasonable.
