The pastries were delicious, the coffee excellent, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and genuine. We stopped by Il Criollo two or three times during our stay, and Vincenzo serves customers himself, which makes the place feel personal. Prices seemed very fair for the quality, usually much lower than at the more touristy pasticcerias in the city center. I don’t really understand the complaints about the “coperto,” since that extra service fee is a normal tradition in restaurants, bars, and cafés around Tuscany. There are just three parking spaces right outside, but if they’re full, a large lot is an easy walk down the street.

We stopped in during the early afternoon and tried four desserts and three different coffees. Everything tasted delicious, and these were the best pastries I’ve had so far while touring towns and cities in Italy. The staff were pleasant, and it seemed like plenty of locals come here too. There are lots of tables indoors and outside at the front, so it feels roomy and comfortable. They also sell whole cakes and biscuits in nicely packed jars. I bought some biscuits to take home to friends, and I’m sure they taste as good as they look. ♥️

I ordered a birthday cake for my wife from home before our San Gimignano vacation. They got back to me within a couple of hours, were kind and professional, and said they could make any kind of cake I wanted. They also put the personalized message on top exactly as requested. When I arrived, it was ready and beautifully presented. It looked amazing, tasted fantastic, and made my wife’s birthday extra special. Communication with the team was friendly, quick, and clear. You can tell they care about their work. Highly recommended for a special occasion, whether you live here or are visiting.

I popped in for a break and tried the chocolate tart. It was so good, and not too sweet, just how I like it. They have special cakes, tarts, croissants, and more. The waitress was really welcoming, and it looks like lots of locals come here. Highly recommend!
