Hotel Villa Belvedere

The owners were very friendly, and the location is handy: a short walk to the town center, with a parking space available. The rooms are kept up well but have an old-fashioned style, and the hotel facilities are basic. Breakfast had a pleasant mix of sweet and savory things, though the quality and presentation weren't great. Much of it was packaged, and the bread wasn't fresh, although you could toast it. Still a good stay.

The location is fantastic, and you can walk into the historic center. Parking is included, feels safe with cameras, and the doors are shut at night. Breakfast was very good, with yogurt, fruit, cheese, prosciutto and more. It was too cold for us to use the pool. The room was dated but fine, with no problems. One issue at checkout: I paid cash, but the owner only gave me a receipt for the 6 euro tourist tax. When I asked for a room receipt, he refused and tried to get the money from me. Then he acted as if he didn't understand and wrote 120 euros beside the tax on the receipt. I wouldn't accept it. He eventually gave me a general ticket that didn't describe the services.

The pool was a highlight for us. The view was fantastic, and around 3 pm we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was tasty and served in the garden, where the view was beautiful, though there weren't many choices. The rooms are small but worked for the two of us with carry-ons. The wifi barely reached our room at the far end of the villa, so that could be improved. This was the cutest place we stayed on our northern Italy road trip, a sweet villa with the elderly owners at reception and breakfast. They weren't very good at English, but they were friendly.

A cozy, clean room, a very good breakfast, and an easy walk to the city center. I'd recommend it.
