The only person who showed us any warmth was the elderly mother, who spoke kindly to us and our children. The rest of the stay left us wanting to get out as soon as possible. It felt like making money mattered more than caring for guests. Our family room was cramped and bare, without even a chair. Cleanliness was shocking: dirt was still in the fridge and ice tray, and the bathroom was disgusting, with urine stains on the toilet seat and hair in the shower. After I complained, the seat was cleaned, but I was told someone had used the toilet during a party and they’d simply forgotten about it. There wasn’t even an apology. The pool could have been a highlight, but loud music and a child throwing stones into the water spoiled it. We were suddenly told to get out because we weren’t wearing swimming caps. Nobody mentioned the rule at check-in, and it wasn’t posted at the entrance we used. Reception said it was “part of the rules” and offered caps for €4 each, without any empathy or apology. The pool attendant was openly hostile and closed the pool before its official 7 pm closing time. One night a party with deafening music right beside our room kept us awake until midnight. The hotel hadn’t warned us beforehand. At checkout, nobody asked how the stay had gone or showed any courtesy or concern.

We only got to stay one night while passing through to our next destination, which was a shame. It’s a lovely place, the service is great, and it was such a bargain. The pool looked amazing, but we didn’t have enough time to try it. The kitchen stays open late, so even though we arrived after 9 pm, we could still have dinner. The pizza was tasty, there was a good selection of drinks, and the friendly dog was a bonus :)

We stopped here because it was conveniently on our route, and it turned out to be a hidden gem in a place we wouldn’t have expected. Shame we could only stay for one night. Giuseppe welcomed us warmly and speaks English and German, so communication was easy. The rooms aren’t very big, but the beds are lovely, and we didn’t need more. There’s a swimming pool used by locals too, with a smaller one for little kids. You can eat and drink while cooling off in the water. It’s a simple pool, without much fuss. Dinner starts at 8:30, which was a little tough with small children, but the service was really good. Antonio, a friendly, hardworking waiter, brought us a table full of delicious antipasti. They were so good that by then we were too full for Giuseppe’s homemade pizzas. Antonio also served a delicious Primitivo wine and proudly told us about it. Everything showed real craftsmanship, and the price was really, really good. I did wish we’d tried more than pizza, though, after seeing all the treats other guests were served. Giuseppe also gave our son a valuable life lesson he won’t forget. Thanks for taking such good care of us. We hope to come back!

We had dinner with friends from the area and started with five different appetizers, all amazing. We’d hoped to try Giuseppe’s pizza dough, but spotted so many other dishes we wanted that he made us a focaccia with ham instead. It was out of this world! Two of us had pork fillet in mushroom sauce and loved it. My husband chose the lamb, and my friend had the steak. They both really enjoyed their meals too. It was worth every penny, and we’re looking forward to coming back. 👍😁

I was in San Giovanni Rotondo for a week on business and found a real gem. The food was amazing, delicious, and beautifully presented, so I ended up eating here every day. The chef made authentic food with homegrown organic ingredients, and the staff were fantastic. The waiter knew loads about the cellar’s wines. It all made for a wonderful experience that’ll stay in my memories of San Giovanni Rotondo.
