B&B Podere Cerreta

The food was wonderful, and we'll be back, hopefully for longer than a weekend. We came during the Motorcycle Grand Prix and found a peaceful little escape from city stress. Alessandro and Manuela were lovely, welcoming, and so friendly. Animal lovers will be happy here: dogs, cats, horses, and chickens are around. Waking up to a rooster instead of an alarm was a treat.

I especially loved how welcome all the animals seemed, both the ones in Alessandro and Manuela's family and the furry friends guests bring along. People who care for animals tend to be lovely, and you can feel that in the place itself. :o) Tucked into the woods, this is a delightful spot to rest and recharge with beautiful walks, delicious food from cheerful Manuela, and conversations with Alessandro and the other guests that can be lighthearted or deep. Recommended!

I spent seven days here and still found so much to do that it nearly wasn't enough. There's a lot nearby, from walks in the woods to trips to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Arezzo, Bologna, and Forlì. The property sits at 350 meters above sea level, while a drive can take you up to 1,000 meters for striking mountain views, with lakes and waterfalls to reach on easy walks. They also have three lovely horses for anyone after a different kind of ride. Chestnut roasts and snowshoe hikes are among the excursions organized through the year. Pets are welcome and treated like they're at home, with no restrictions. The hosts, Manuela and Alessandro, make you feel at home too, and their cooking is so good you'll hardly want to eat out. Breakfast brings homemade jams and cakes made only with fresh eggs from their hens. Dinner is delicious Tuscan food, including Florentine steak if requested. You can also unwind in the Jacuzzi in the afternoon, looking out over the valley during a hydromassage. Highly recommended, a must-try!

We had a wonderful day hiking the trail to the Acquacheta waterfalls. It's a long walk, but the views make it worth it. There are trails all around the B&B for discovering the Casentino forests. Podere Cerreta is a lovely green spot full of animals. Alessandro and Manuela welcomed us warmly and made us feel right at home.
