The bed was so comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure. We also appreciated having insect screens everywhere. The rooms are charmingly furnished, the pool is lovely, and breakfast was good. It’s a very historic place, and Halyna looked after us wonderfully and shared great ideas for exploring nearby. We had a really relaxing stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Watching the sunset over Bologna from the terrace was unforgettable. It made it easy to picture the elegant parties held here long ago. This 19th-century castle has original details everywhere that bring the history of the Rangoni Macchiavelli, one of Italy’s most important families, to life. Breakfast in the garden or at the big table in the elegant salon was a treat, and the little pool was a welcome break during the day. Halyna made us feel so welcome and took plenty of time to show us the chapel, the library, and the history of the place. This is much more than a place to sleep, and a great choice if you enjoy somewhere unusual.

The breakfast was excellent, with care put into even the service details. Elena and Luciano welcomed our family warmly and professionally for a weekend away, and spoke so passionately about the castle’s history. It’s a beautiful spot a short distance from Bologna, with an atmosphere that makes you feel transported to another time. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend it.
