The owners were courteous and eager to help, though the language barrier sometimes made communication hard. We also hoped for a general guide to local sights and activities; apart from a cupboard with brochures, we didn’t get other information. The fresh bread delivery in the morning was a real plus. The setting is the property’s strongest point. Appartments Sonneparadies sits between San Martino and San Leonardo, with plenty to do nearby, several supermarkets and restaurants, Merano about a 20-minute drive away, and Bolzano roughly an hour away. Our apartment was very clean, but the old-fashioned mountain-style furnishings could use attention. Even with clean sheets, the sofa, mattress, and pillows had a smell that we noticed as guests. There weren’t many kitchen items: just a few pots and pans, no cutlery, and no coffee maker. The refrigerator also didn’t work well. Since it’s an apartment, I’d suggest offering a shared washing machine for free. I’d recommend the property for the location and nearby attractions, but if I returned to the Passeier Valley for an apartment stay, I might look for one with a few more amenities.

The apartment was clean and quiet, but several things bothered us. The heating was turned off in the evenings, and after we called to complain, it was left at a minimum. I think this was to save money, which isn’t acceptable when it’s at least -4°C. We also had to pay cash without receiving a receipt, which we found unacceptable. The location was quite far from the ski area and inconvenient for skiing. In the kitchen there was no oven, which seemed absurd; the owner gave us a tiny portable one, but it was very limiting.

The Königsrainer family were gracious, kind, and always ready to help. The place is beautiful, spacious, clean, and well cared for. It’s peaceful and quiet, though somewhat isolated, with Merano, Merano 2000, and Plan de Corones all within easy reach. Highly recommended.

The price was reasonable, and we found everything just right during our three nights here with the family. Our apartment was warm, clean, welcoming, well maintained, and had what we needed. The woman who manages the apartments was very kind and welcoming. She lives in the same building, so she was available whenever we needed anything.
