The pillows in our room were terrible, and the food and service felt far too expensive for what we got. At breakfast, the cheese was dry and seemed very low quality; the savory options were cakes and pastries, old bread, and breadsticks. It looked as if the pastries were leftovers from the night before and the bread had been brought over from the restaurant. With more than nine guests and only one person serving, breakfast was clearly difficult to manage. The restaurant service was very slow, and unfortunately the food wasn't good. We also felt unwelcome from the start: they asked our names through a closed gate before letting us in, instead of greeting us at the front desk. Then we waited around for 15 minutes for check-in while attention went to an event on the terrace. It's a beautiful location in Lombardy, with plenty of potential, but the attempt to modernize everything was a letdown. I wonder whether the owners would enjoy staying here themselves. I can't recommend it, and the hotel and restaurant are extremely overpriced for the service and food.

The price was fine, though the wine pours were much too small. Some dishes fell flat, but the liver and dessert were real highlights. The food overall was fine.
