Agriturismo La Disperata

Our little house was so pretty and comfortable, with a kitchen and bathroom downstairs and a bedroom with its own bathroom upstairs. My disabled mother was able to sleep comfortably on the sofa bed on the ground floor, which worked well for her. The place is wheelchair accessible, too. Our Maltese, Rocky, had a great time. It’s a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, just one kilometer from San Quirico d'Orcia. We also enjoyed wine and olive oil tastings in the village cellar. Emiliano was responsive, always available, and took good care of us. There’s a garden grill for cooking excellent meat from the village butcher. We had a warm welcome, and this was one of the most beautiful stays I’ve ever had. We’ll definitely come back.

Salvatore, the estate manager, was incredibly kind and available whenever we needed anything. The property was clean, well kept, and had everything we needed. Set among gorgeous Tuscan hills, it has breathtaking views and is very close to San Quirico and the area’s attractions. A spectacular place to stay in Val d'Orcia. I’ll definitely return, it was a fantastic experience.

The landscape around La Disperata is stunning, and Salvatore was super helpful with whatever we needed. It’s a lovely property if you want some solitude or a few days away from the bustle. But it’s a tourist facility with two separate units in a small, unfenced park, not a farmhouse. There’s no restaurant, so lunch and dinner mean using the apartment kitchen. Pick up water and essentials before arriving. There’s no coffee maker, and the nearest café is too far to walk to, so you’ll need to make your own breakfast. There is a washing machine and a fairly large refrigerator. No air conditioning or fan, and during those scorching days the nights were anything but restful.

Rooms are spacious and clean, furnished in a rustic Tuscan style. The farmhouse sits in a wonderful spot, though getting there means taking a dirt road through fields and cypress trees. It’s a beautiful, characteristic place for Val d'Orcia. Mr. Salvatore, the manager, is attentive and always available to help with everyone’s needs.
