Masseria Celentano Relais & Agriturismo

We had dinner on our own, with the chef, Leonardo, giving us his attention. Luckily the fixed menu suited us, and the food was great, as was Leo's wine choice. The room was clean and comfortable enough, though it felt more styled than practical. We couldn't find heating controls, and there were no spare pillows or blankets. We stayed out of season, and there was literally nobody there when we arrived. No reception signs, so we started wondering if we'd come to the wrong place. Eventually someone turned up, and after a phone call and some confusion, showed us to the room. It's in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure I'd return, especially off season, but if you want to be away from everything, give it a try.

We arrived with the whole family hoping for a relaxing stay, then found that management hadn't communicated with each other and had given some of the rooms we'd booked to other guests. What made it worse was that they refused to take responsibility and expected us to work out the problem ourselves. I had to change rooms three times in four nights. It was extremely distressing and stressful, and proper treatment from management could have made it easier. Their response and the way they treated us were disgraceful. Stay away!

The rooms were nice, and the buffet breakfast was OK. The menu was very limited, but acceptable, and the chef made me a great veal carpaccio. The internet in our room didn't work. We couldn't use the lovely pool because, after ten years of cleaning pools, we know to avoid cloudy water. I was concerned that the staff didn't seem bothered by how cloudy it was.

The team gave us such friendly, helpful service, and their advice about the local area was spot-on and invaluable. It wasn't in other sites or tourist guides we'd seen. We loved staying here. The huge, beautiful pool and cool, inviting rooms made it a wonderful place, too. Thanks to everyone!
