B&B Pettirosso

Our stay was brief but really pleasant. We had a large basement room with air conditioning and a hair dryer, and the bathroom was clean. The host was very friendly and came to meet us for both arrival and departure. A slight delay at checkout was no problem. Breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit, sandwiches made with a sandwich toaster, croissants, and good cappuccino. It was served on the terrace, where we had a nice time sitting.

We were only there for two nights, and that was enough to leave me pretty annoyed. The place is central and the room looked nice at first, but we waited half an hour for someone to let us in. We had booked a ground-floor room and were put upstairs in room 2, which was especially awkward with a toddler. There was no internet in the room, and the supposedly soundproof walls didn't keep noise out. The room smelled of drains, and mosquitoes were everywhere. A siphon and a mosquito net seemed like they might have been too expensive. We were assigned a parking spot, then found a note from the neighbors on our car the next day saying it was theirs. And why call it a B&B when there's no breakfast?

The shared terrace was handy, especially the clothesline, and we could park our scooter indoors. There was even a freezer by the shared entrance for our ice packs, plus a little fridge in the room. The place itself is simple, clean, and well kept. We were close to dinner options, markets on foot, and supermarkets for putting together a beach picnic. San Teodoro's center is just steps away, but it was still very quiet. Getting to beaches took 5 to 30 minutes by scooter, which worked really well for us. Practical and comfortable, with plenty to recommend it.

The room was spacious and close to the center, and both it and the bathroom were clean. The bedding was another story: there were stains and a few hairs on the sheets and towels, and the bedspread was a useless, dirty-looking thing. A slippery mesh had been used instead of a mattress cover, so the sheets kept sliding off. If you sat up with your neck against the headboard, you'd end up sliding down to the foot of the bed. The cleaning lady was very kind, though we never saw the owner. Wi-Fi didn't reach the room at all. We were told it didn't work because our room was farther away, even though the website says it's available throughout the property.
