Le Canne Residence

The €100 deposit came as a surprise because it hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. When we raised that, we got a rather arrogant reply that it was written in the apartment and that Booking.com was to blame. They eventually acknowledged it wasn’t actually mentioned, but still didn’t apologize. The money was refunded, though they say they can keep it for things like dirty dishes, unemptied rubbish, or rooms that aren’t spotless. That standard felt unfair given the state we found the place in. The coffee machine had already been used, with a capsule falling out when we opened it, and there were dirty plates and cups. We couldn’t find an iron, ironing board, or fan, and there were only two musty-smelling blankets for five people. We’d arrived at 1 a.m. after booking for five. We weren’t looking for a big welcome, but we did expect some basic preparation. Instead, we had to set everything up ourselves, beds included.
