Hotel Marcora Palace

The room I got didn’t match what I booked on Booking: I’d reserved two separate beds, but there weren’t two. After a long trip, we asked the restaurant if we could get something to eat and were served poor-quality food, along with two glasses of wine whose prices we hadn’t been told. The bill came to 72 euros for cold, overcooked pasta and vegetables. I’ve traveled in Italy for 10 years and never had an experience like it. The meal was worth less than fast food from McDonald’s. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend this place.

Getting to the fourth floor in ski boots every day because the elevator didn’t work was bad enough, and there wasn’t even a ski room. Breakfast was the same throughout our stay, with no variety, and you had to ask if anything was missing. The staff were unfriendly and seemed reluctant whenever we made a request. The pool was another problem: there was no lifeguard, the acoustics made it very noisy, and a staff member kept looking into the relaxation area. The rules were absurd, too, banning diving, splashing and even swimming. The spa cost extra, which I don’t mind in itself, but at this price neither comfort nor professional service was there. This place made for a stressful, overpriced stay. I strongly advise skiers to avoid it, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The food was disgusting, especially the meat, though the pasta was okay. The service was awful and mean. This hotel really isn’t suitable for kids or teenagers: the pool rules are very strict, and a staff member kept coming over from reception to watch us and the kids swim every 3-4 minutes.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly, though the hotel itself feels dated. Dinner was awful: dry chicken, sour minced meat and potatoes soaked in fat. That’s a letdown in a country with one of the best cuisines in the world.
