Hotel Mira Spiaggia

There was sand on the sheets in a room that was supposed to be clean. Nice. We paid €100 for a room for just three hours after our B&B kicked us out because they wouldn't give us the late checkout they'd agreed to, but that's another story. The hotel also charged us for breakfast, though the receipt clearly says 8/9 to 8/9. When I asked for a three-hour room, the receptionist smirked as if we were up to something questionable. Avoid this place at all costs.

There were bugs and mold in the apartment, but when we left a day early and asked for a refund for that last day, they refused. The manager Giusepe Ruggirello didn't even bother to come to reception or call us to his office. They laughed in our faces and said it was our problem.

I tried to cancel more than a month and a half ahead because of an illness in the family and the cancellation of our trip. They wouldn't refund anything, not even part of the cost of a very expensive deluxe seaside room. They said the booking was nonrefundable, despite the circumstances and all the time they had to rebook it.

The staff were so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and Veronica at reception was fantastic. We stayed four days and came away won over by the genuine hospitality and friendly atmosphere. The hotel is right by the sea, just across the road, with a clean beach and crystal-clear water. Our room was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. The spa is beautiful, too. Breakfast was more than plentiful and all top quality. And the first courses I ate were the best spaghetti with clams of my life, eaten with a sea view. The place is clean, thoughtful about the details, and takes good care of its guests. We discovered a wonderful hotel and will happily return. I'd recommend it.
