Marco and the staff really did their best to make this a lovely place to stay. There's a relaxed, homey feel, plenty of spots to hang out, and places to work if you need to get things done while travelling. If you feel like meeting people, the garden and bar are welcoming, with Jenga and other games too. The kitchen is clean and well stocked with utensils. Staff keep the fridge tidy every day, clearing out old food guests have left behind. They even put my things in a basket, which I hadn't realized was available, so our food stayed organized. There's free water, though you can leave a tip, and a simple but good breakfast is offered as a nice surprise. The beach is less than a 15-minute walk away, and you pass a supermarket, Deco, on the way. Marco, thanks for making such a great hostel!

I wish I could give this place more stars, because the staff are lovely and the hostel feels welcoming. My roommate and I each found bed bugs in our room, independently, so I can't recommend staying here right now. The staff have been told, and I hope they're taking all the steps needed to get it under control. The outdoor area was especially nice for meeting and talking with other travellers. Still, an infestation of bedbugs shouldn't be taken lightly by staff or by anyone considering a stay. This was at the end of August 25.

The views all around Timbuktu Hostel were breathtaking, and it was such a good place to relax and take in the area. The hostel was spotless, which made it feel comfortable and homelike. I also loved the bar, a fun spot to unwind, have a drink, and meet other travellers after a day at the beach. What made the stay especially memorable were the people. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by warm, friendly folks who were always happy to help or share a story. For great vibes, lovely people, and an unforgettable atmosphere, I can't recommend Timbuktu Hostel enough. I can't wait to come back!

So many little touches add to the atmosphere here, and the welcoming staff make it feel like a lovely place to stay. While I was there, almost everyone ended up extending their visit, me included. It seems to draw great travellers and locals, so there's always something going on or someone interesting to chat with. Marco has done a wonderful job creating the space. One of the best hostels I've been to, highly recommend!
