Hotel Santa Rosa

The property manager was kind and helpful, and the staff were polite and took good care of the room cleaning. The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned, and being so close to the sea makes this a place I’d recommend. Breakfast outside was a particularly pleasant touch.

It’s only a few steps from the sea, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There was no real welcome, and staff were almost never around. Our room smelled strongly when we first walked in, and the second night was sleepless because the air conditioning didn’t work. The owner didn’t even apologize. Hot water comes from a small electric heater. It was switched off when I arrived, though there’s enough hot water for one person to shower. We couldn’t get internet or phone reception to reach the staff, and the TV didn’t work either. At 8:30, breakfast was already mostly gone because the other guests had finished it. We waited half an hour while frozen croissants were baked. The price was what you’d expect at a four-star hotel.

The location is hard to beat, less than 50 meters from the sea, with both private and public beaches nearby. Cafes and kiosks line the promenade, and we had a really good stay. Our room was clean and spacious, and parking on the lawn inside the property was very convenient. Breakfast is served in the garden, where there are tables and umbrellas. The woman who welcomed us and served breakfast was consistently kind and cheerful.

We had a really bad stay. The place is dated, the rooms were dirty and old, there was no drying rack, and the drain was broken and noisy. The air conditioner was another problem, and there were ants in the bed. On our second day, we came back from the beach to find no soap or clean towels. Instead, the dirty shower towels from the previous day had been picked up off the floor and put back in the bathroom. I called the owner right away because we had a small child. He said the room note explained that linen was changed every other day and that he didn’t know what to say. But the information sheet actually said that if towels were found dirty on the floor, a change could be arranged for a fee. By 8, we had no soap or towels and had to wash with our wet beach towels. The owner didn’t offer even a simple apology. Breakfast was poor.
