Amedeo was especially thoughtful. After we left, he even messaged to thank us for leaving the apartment tidy, which was such a nice and unusual gesture. The place itself was spotless, charming, and had a kitchen. It’s also very conveniently located near the city center, with a garage attached. We stayed in Sanremo from December 31 to January 2, and the staff made us feel welcome right away. We had a lovely stay and would happily come back. Goodbye, Sanremo, and goodbye, Amedeo!

After a 13-hour drive from Spain, we needed a shower and some rest before an important doctor’s appointment the next day. We couldn’t even count on the water: the shower was shared with the neighboring apartment through the boiler and pipes, and we could hear everything through the wall, so we had to guess when it might be free. The next morning, no water came out at all. When it did eventually run, it was yellow-brown, though the owner said he thought it was clean. We also found a saucepan with old food stuck to it. It was dirty, unusable, and a pretty clear sign of how little care the apartment received. The owner controlled the heat by app, and we had to contact him because we were freezing. The beds were rock hard, which would be especially bad if you have back problems. We had to leave after one night and find emergency accommodation so we could shower and make our appointment on time. The owner then complained that we left the keys with the cleaning lady at 10:30, even though he had told us she couldn’t come before 11:00. Every minute mattered while we were trying to find another place to sleep and get ready. When we asked for a partial refund, we were told, “non-refundable.” To be clear in response to the owner: the saucepan wasn’t mine. Mistaking it for my coffee maker, which I never mentioned, says a lot about how little the apartments are checked. I wasn’t making a threat; I was unhappy with a service we hadn’t actually received. If the situation sounds untenable, that’s because it was. A terrible experience. If basic comfort or hygiene matters to you, avoid this place.

Amedeo, the owner, was so kind and helpful, and gave us great tips for places to eat. The apartment was comfortable, clean, and welcoming, close to the center. I went with my family and hope we can come back soon.

Our motorcycles were safe in Amedeo’s garage, so we could enjoy the weekend without worrying about them. We’re motorcyclists and stayed in Sanremo in a beautiful apartment that had every comfort and was impeccably clean. Amedeo was a delightful host, with great suggestions for making the most of our time. If we come back to Sanremo, we’ll stay with him again, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting SANREMO.
