Correnti Boutique Hotel

Our Gold room, 108, was small, white and clean, and in a good location. We got fresh towels each day, and the entrance felt secure. The lift is small and broke once during our two days there. The room smelled of smoke, which was disgusting, and there was no water in it at all. In 30 years of travelling to more than 40 countries, this is the first room I’ve stayed in anywhere that didn’t provide water. That doesn’t feel worthy of a boutique hotel. The rooms are noisy when people fight or have sex, and the room information was only in Italian, not even English. The TV only had Italian channels, though we didn’t need one. Also, Correnti Boutique GOLD isn’t at this address, but 300 metres away on the main shopping street. The directions weren’t clear, so in 37-degree heat we had to walk farther to find the right place. There’s a lot to improve, and we wouldn’t recommend it. Overpriced.

Parking could be a problem in high season, since the hotel is right in the centre of Sanremo. The place is clean and has a very modern look. Our street-facing room was quite noisy, and the bathroom was well equipped but tiny. There was an empty minibar and a coffee machine, but no coffee.

Our room was very clean and fairly spacious, and the front desk clerk arranged somewhere offsite for us to leave our bikes. There was no way to get two bikes up to the fourth floor, since the lift is much too small. Finding the hotel was difficult too, as its sign is tiny and hard to spot. It’s on an extremely busy, noisy street, and we couldn’t check in early. For a one-night stay, it wasn’t a particularly good choice.

There’s real potential here, but the windows need soundproofing and the mold needs to go. At first the place looked clean, until we went to shower and saw dirty corners with traces of mold. It’s in a great spot near the middle of downtown, but the street is so busy that we couldn’t sleep. Ambulances and annoying scooters kept us awake. Unless you’re knocked out by too much alcohol, you simply won’t get any sleep. We wanted to like it, but this isn’t a hotel, it’s an apartment building, so don’t be misled by the pictures. A place where I can’t get the sleep I need is pointless to me.
