Hotel Paradiso

The location is really nice, and the pool area was okay for relaxing. Those were the only positives for us. We found the welcome unfriendly, and it stayed that way until we left. Our room was old and very small, nowhere near four-star level. We spent most of our time out and only came back to sleep. A once-in-a-lifetime stay, but for all the wrong reasons. We won’t return.

We had a lovely balcony, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything else was nice and clean, though dated. The bath wasn’t clean, but given the rest of the room, I think it was an oversight. The walls were VERY thin, so when the people next door were having afternoon shenanigans, it felt like we were in the room with them. Parking was another headache. Our car was blocked in, so we had to go back and ask for help, then wait while they moved the other cars to get us out.

At 11:05 p.m. I called reception to ask for water because the minibar was empty. The reply was rude: I was told to come down to reception. I explained I was injured and couldn’t go downstairs, but the receptionist hung up. I went down anyway, upset, and asked why there was no room service. The arrogant receptionist said room service stops at 10 p.m. The parking is tiny, costs 15 euros a night, and still had no available spaces at night. One of the worst hotels of my life. The food deserves a mention: the breakfast buffet is generous and very good, and dinner is just as good, with varied menus that change daily. Rooms and pool are clean and a good size. At Hotel Paradiso, everyone I dealt with, from reception and housekeeping to the restaurant, was extremely helpful and friendly. It’s nice to see the senior chef in this family business being supportive each day and sharing kind words with guests. I highly recommend it in Sanremo.
