Esperidi Resort Village

We spent four great nights here. It’s super tropical, and you can see they look after the place. There’s a private pool with a bar right beside it, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast wasn’t bad, but I expected more from Italy, so they could put a bit more work into it.

The main letdown was the rooms. We took four, and there wasn’t much difference between them. I asked to switch after seeing the photo, but the other room wasn’t much different. The bathrooms looked terrible, with everything seeming so old, including the shower, and the room furniture was old too. I expected a lot more based on the hotel’s website photos. There were good things as well. Breakfast was rich and good, the gardens were perfectly kept, and everything outside was clean. The pool was good. Service was available and great, though they didn’t have much to do and gave up on the rooms because everyone was asleep.

The pool area is lovely, and the location is handy beside the train and bus station, with great airport transfers. Sorrento’s main town is about a 30-minute walk, which my partner and I really enjoyed, or you can take the train for two minutes. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Some of the accommodation is a bit dated but still perfectly adequate. They’ve also built newer accommodation that costs a little more.

We stayed in a two-bedroom bungalow, which gave us plenty of space and was just what we needed as a couple. It wasn’t fancy inside, but it had everything we needed and was very clean. The pool area was lovely, with plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and the resort was quiet and relaxing. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, especially Gino, the overnight man. Breakfast was the usual basic continental selection, so you’d need to go elsewhere if you want more. There were nice little touches too, like the groundsman giving us oranges he’d freshly picked from the resort’s trees. A single train ticket costs €2,40 to any stop, so getting to Pompei or Sorrento is easy. We didn’t need taxis. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value holiday.
