The grounds are lovely for a stroll, and the sea view and pool are immaculate. We enjoyed them at our own pace. Staff were great about following up on requests, the shuttle into town was convenient, and the restaurant and pool servers were friendly. They also gave us champagne and fruit. The rooms, though, felt very dated and far from what I'd call a luxury hotel. Our bathroom smelled of smoke, so we asked to have it cleaned again. Afterward, the toilet still had a strong dried-urine odor. The rooms and elevator were musty. Outlets worked only sometimes, and moving the curtain made paint flakes fall into my suitcase. The walls were peeling. There was no air conditioning during our mid-April stay, and the air felt still, so wet things wouldn't dry. No one explained a few things, including how to use the blackout curtains. I know the building has a lot of history, but the rooms badly need refreshing for this price, especially with newer luxury hotels available. I hope this honest review helps.

We came here to unwind after a busy, hectic trip through Venice, Tuscany, and Rome, and it was a lovely way to finish our vacation before heading home. We celebrated our anniversary at this beautiful, spotless boutique hotel. The rooms were lovely, and the service was a step above. We had an amazing, relaxing stay.

Hotel Cocumella is quiet and elegant, with so much character, yet town is within walking distance. The gardens and sea views are breathtaking, and the food was excellent. The staff made our stay memorable, especially concierge' Giuseppe and Michael, and Franko, our favorite waiter. I loved every minute at this beautiful historic hotel and would highly recommend it for a special stay in Sorrento.

We spent our honeymoon here and were very happy with the accommodations. The hotel has real charm and great amenities. I especially loved the beautiful path down to the ocean and the private beach club, a great way to start the day. A shuttle takes guests to a meeting point a short walk from downtown, which was handy. Everyone we dealt with, from reception and the concierge to the wait staff, was welcoming and helpful. I'd choose this hotel again.

The staff were exceptional, but the street-level room was grotesquely overpriced. The exterior walls were paper thin, there was no view, and the mattress was twin-sized. The shower handle stuck out of the wall for use as a bidet, but there was no floor drain.
