The location is the main thing this B&B has going for it, right by the highway. The rest didn't match the reviews I'd read. I had reserved a ground-floor room with four beds, and called a few times beforehand to confirm. When we arrived, the owner said he'd given it to someone else because he'd been too busy and forgotten the booking. Reservations should be written down, especially after several confirmation calls. We ended up split across two rooms. Even my room, which didn't face the road, was noisy. The bathroom door squeaked when shut and could wake the person sleeping. The mattress was so soft it felt like a sponge when I pressed it. I slept badly, with cars and motorcycles rushing past on the main road like a racetrack. At breakfast, there was only half a bottle of tea left from earlier guests, and the coffee machine had no water. The manager said it was good, but should check what's missing before later guests come down. They do accept small dogs, which is a plus. Still, I wouldn't stay there again if I return in a few years. As I always say, seeing is believing, unless you're such a deep sleeper that even cannon fire won't wake you.

My one gripe is the breakfast setup: there are just four mugs and no recycling bins, so some guests use plastic cups that aren't suitable for hot drinks. That seems especially out of place with efforts to reduce plastic. Otherwise, breakfast was adequate and had a good selection, and staff were friendly and ready to help if you asked for anything else. The rooms were very clean, with daily cleaning and fresh linens.

The manager was welcoming and courteous, without being intrusive or too familiar. The rates are genuinely reasonable, and the rooms are comfortable. I stayed several nights, and it was such a nice surprise each time to find the room and bed made, with the bathroom looking unused. The cleanliness was especially impressive. I'd keep this place in mind for a business trip, a holiday, or a family stay.

A handy stop during a long drive. We arrived without a reservation at 11:30 PM, and they were available to take us in for just one night at an affordable price. The staff were friendly, cleanliness was more than acceptable, and there was air conditioning. No breakfast, though.
