Hotel Donatello

The rooms were very clean, and housekeeping did a great job with the bathroom, floors, towels, and bedding. The desk staff were friendly too, and the man there clearly explained the costs and helped with our questions and odd requests. It’s also close to public transit. The room itself was tiny, really just somewhere to sleep and shower. During the day it got hot and stuffy, but the hotel wouldn’t turn on the AC. At night it was cooler, though opening the door brought in moths because there’s no bug screen, and we couldn’t leave it open for long with all the street noise. Hot water was hit or miss. Showering outside the usual busy times seemed fine, but in the morning we only got about two minutes of hot water.

We paid almost 200 euros a night for a place that didn’t feel worth even 10. The rooms smelled bad and were very old, and noise from other rooms carried through the walls. We had booked a king bed, but the man at reception gave us twin beds and argued that the hotel was full and we couldn’t have the room we’d booked. His attitude was rude and unprofessional. The service was bad, and I wouldn’t recommend booking here.

It’s a charming hotel with lots of lovely little details, and the balconies in the rooms are amazing. Everything was very clean, though the sheets were so old they looked uncomfortable and dirty. There’s no WiFi or regular TV, and the hotel’s offering is limited to breakfast. It was fine for one night or a short stay, but for me it was a one-time experience.

The included breakfast was a real plus, with plenty of choices, and it saved us time and money before heading out to see the sights. After a day exploring, the cozy, well-equipped room was a nice place to unwind. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout, making the stay comfortable. I had a fantastic time and would recommend it to anyone after an easy, relaxing stay.
