The little patio, full of lovely flowers, was a great place to sit and take in the view. Our room had charming rustic decor, plus its own toilet and shower, and we slept well. We were warmly welcomed and had a healthy, tasty breakfast during our two-night stay. A genuine little place, and one I’d happily recommend.

The host was pleasant and friendly, but that was about the only bright spot apart from the garden and its view. The room felt like a one-star hotel room by international standards, and I wouldn’t recommend the property. At €100 a night, even allowing for local prices, it was far too expensive for what was offered. I’ve paid €107 for a hotel in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, with a marvelous breakfast and service worthy of five stars. By comparison, Villa Arnika was a shame. I think a fair room price would be no more than €50 a night. Everything in our room seemed worn out, from the furniture and mattress to the bathroom and electrical installation. It looked as though it hadn’t been refurbished in at least 40 years. The bathroom was very cramped, and the towels were old and frayed. The actual room bore no resemblance to the pictures in the PDF we received when booking. Maybe those photos were taken 20-25 years ago. There was also an unpleasant smell in the hall and room, probably because everything was so old. Breakfast was extremely poor, and the coffee was very bad.

The view is breathtaking, and the team were incredibly friendly. We felt at ease from the moment we arrived. Everything was very clean, and breakfast was especially good, with regional products. We’d recommend staying here without hesitation.

That view is breathtaking. We found the stay very good value for money, and there wasn’t much more we could reasonably have expected at this price. The rooms are small, though still bigger than some familiar hotel-chain rooms. They’re simply furnished, while the house and rooms are very clean and tidy. Breakfast was basic but decent, with lots of coffee and panettone as a little extra. The bed was OK for the price, even if it wasn’t a luxurious box-spring bed. The bathroom was just right, with plenty of water pressure.

We arrived, took one look, and left again. The room and its furnishings were extremely old and run-down, and despite being told it would match the online photo, it didn’t. For what you get, even this low price is way too much. Any youth hostel is better equipped!
