Breakfast was a real highlight, with homemade jams, marmalades and desserts. The B&B is carefully kept, and its windows look onto the main square in one of Italy's most beautiful villages.

The owners are warm and welcoming, and breakfast in the living room was lovely, with homemade desserts and plenty of savory choices too. The apartment sits in an old building overlooking the main square of Santa Fiora. It has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and the furnishings are tasteful, with lots of attention to detail. Staying there felt like stepping into another time, and I'd happily do it again. Make time for the Borgo and the Della Robbia family in the Parish Church of Sante Fiora and Lucilla.

The owners' welcome is hard to beat. There's also a lovely loggia looking out over the town's main square. As for the rest, you really have to see it for yourself.
