From our covered balcony, we had gorgeous views over the sea and mountains, and the staff were really friendly. We booked the romantic room at the very top of this beautiful hotel in a small fishing village. It was spacious, spotless, and cleaned every day. The bathroom was small and up another short flight of stairs. Be ready for steps, since the lift only goes part of the way. Breakfast was a small continental spread. Parking right outside was easy, and there's a big play park opposite.

Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was generous and refreshing, and a lovely start to the day. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and clearly proud of the property. My clean, spacious room had an ocean view and opened onto a small balcony. The air conditioning worked well, which you need in Santa Flavia in summer. One thing to keep in mind: the piazza out front stays lively late into the night, so it could bother light sleepers. If you're traveling up and down the Sicilian coast, this hotel makes a great-value base and a nice place to retreat to.

The lovely staff and their service made our meal in Porticello even better. The seafood risotto was just perfect. Compliments to the chef!

The hotel looks nice, but the customer service was awful. It took 20 minutes to get a menu, then another 20 to get the pizza I'd ordered. It was only average and missing its main ingredient. When I mentioned that, the waiter seemed annoyed instead of apologetic. They also charged me for food I hadn't ordered, then acted as though their mistake was mine. Some of the staff were okay, which makes me sorry to say this, but management was rude, inefficient, unprofessional, and arrogant. They won't see me again.
