For a one-star hotel, this is excellent value, with an unbeatable price. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, the beds were good, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver during July's European heatwave. Cafes and restaurants are only a 2-3 minute walk away, and the beach, waterfront, bus, train, and ferry are about a three-minute walk. Just remember that a one-star hotel doesn't have a fridge. Parking can be hard to find in peak season, so I'd leave the car and use public transport. The bus to Portofino stops at all the beaches, and you can take the ferry to San Fruttuoso for a day at the beach.

We only stayed one night before our diving trip in Portofino, but I'd recommend the hotel. The prices were very reasonable, and the owner was kind enough to help us find a parking spot nearby. Arriving late at night wasn't a problem, and everything was easy to arrange. The rooms are on the small side, though, so it may not be the best choice for a longer visit, say more than a week.
