The restaurant gave us one of the best meals we had anywhere in Italy, and the hotel itself sits quietly in a private cove, with an elegant, peaceful feel. We’d seen mixed reviews beforehand and wondered what to expect, but our stay at Eight Hotel Paraggi went well beyond what we hoped for. When travel problems came up, the team helped with our bags and logistics, and even drove us to the police station. Linda was especially kind, professional, and caring. From the moment we arrived, everyone was extraordinary. We’re grateful for how they looked after us and are already planning to return next year. This place is a gem.

We brought our baby and found the hotel very accommodating. The staff were consistently friendly, and we especially enjoyed the private shuttle and complimentary breakfast. The cleaners came by several times during the day, too. The private beach is stunning, unlike anything else we found around Portofino. A fabulous stay, 10/10 recommend.

The return taxi to the airport was quoted at 190 euros through reception, even though we had paid 120 euros for the trip from the airport. After I objected, they brought it down to 180 euros, still 50% more than the incoming fare. Neither taxi had the meter running. I felt scammed by the hotel staff and taxi company. A shocking way to treat guests paying 750 euros a night.

The hotel is very dog friendly, with attentive staff and a private beach club whose team was great. I’ve seen one-star reviews mention the rooms are small, and yes, they are relatively small. But Paraggi is a tiny town with limited space, and there are very few alternatives if you want to stay right by the beach.

Breakfast was great, and we had a fantastic view from the hotel's best suite. But the air conditioning was too cold and couldn't be adjusted, while the jacuzzi and its cushions were dirty. The rate felt too high for the service we received. This definitely isn't a five-star hotel. We’re now staying at a five-star place, and the difference in service is striking.
