Art Suite Gallery

The room was cold and damp, and the noisy air conditioning had to be switched off at night. There was no other heating. The round bed was uncomfortable, the toilet was unusually tall and narrow, and the shower curtain kept sticking to us. A few artworks gave the room some character, but the bottles and glasses scattered around were all priced, and there were fake rose petals too. This didn’t feel like a suite. We stayed at the so-called "Art Suite Gallery" during Lucca Comics & Games weekend. We’d booked a month ahead, finding the property on Booking.com at about €270 for two nights, including breakfast, the option of breakfast in the room, and parking. The manager asked us to book directly with him instead, promising the same price including taxes and a complimentary bottle of prosecco. When we arrived, though, he demanded €300 in cash upfront, without a receipt, explaining confusingly that "Booking.com changes prices and holds too much." It was the last minute during a busy weekend, so finding another place wasn’t a realistic option. Check-in was meant to be at 4:30 PM. Traffic delayed us until 5:30 PM, and we then had to wait in a bar until 7:00 PM, without even an apology or a drink. The property is perched on a hill and difficult to reach without a car. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but at first it wasn’t. After we complained, we got two coupons for a bar. The next morning they told us to order "whatever we wanted," so we had two cappuccinos and three croissants. The following morning, at another partner bar, we were told the same thing and had two cappuccinos, croissants, juices, and a few biscuits. The owner later complained that breakfast had "exceeded the expected value," saying we were only entitled to two coffees and two pastries. We also tried to use the promised parking. We were given a pass, but spent over an hour driving around without finding a free spot. After a second cold night with no usable air conditioning or alternative heat, we politely listed the problems and the differences from what had been promised. The owner's response was that he usually "charges for everything extra," and he kept saying we could have left after the first night. After checkout, he repeatedly called and messaged us on WhatsApp about the breakfast bill. Between the missing receipt, services that weren’t provided, unclear communication, and intrusive behavior, the experience was disappointing and felt close to a scam. I’m leaving this review to warn other travelers and strongly advise against this property. €150 a night for this service is a rip-off. AVOID IT!!!!!! P.S. I’m not giving the service any stars because it would be 0.
